1. The name of my artifact: Bincat Theory
The name of my project is Bincat Theory. The skeptic behind the name has to do with following elements: Firstly the prototype is a bin (a recycling bin YES) but also apart from its actual use (to throw recycling litter) is also made for fun and here comes the cat (the recycling assistant), Mr. Bin (A) and the A stands for the Greek word for recycling that is ANAKYKLOSIS and so I had…
Bin
Recycle
Cat
Theory
Alpha
Fun
Mr.
Master
I used the LINGZINI from the website of our Professor and found out availability of MrBinA (.com, .net, .org) which I could have used for my project so to have a short name but then struck me the idea of the world theory and since one of my favorite brands is Fruit of the Loom I thought it wouldn’t hurt if I use a combination of words for my prototype and I checked again and found full availability of a website for BincatTheory.com and net and org as well.

BINCAT THEORY Mr BinA (THE RECYCLING CAT)
Necessity is the mother of invention
GAP: A recycling bin that will make the recycling not only easy but also fun.
Week # 2
I would like to organize the recycling of litter at home without having many bags all around and without wasting a lot of space. I would like the recycling to be in one place and to know in which bag I should throw away each different kind of litter without giving much thought about it. I wish I could find a litter can divided in parts maybe in different colors and shapes, where I could put the litter bags for each type of litter. Also I would like to be an aesthetic object that would rather add in the decoration of a kitchen or even of the yard or balcony. I hope that I will be able to design such a useful object with the elegance of a sculpture.
In what way might I...
Help to keep the planet clean from litters.
*Motivate also others to obtain ecological consciousness.
Help the members of my family do recycling not as an obligation but as a game
Improve the aesthetic of a useful object of everyday life use.
Will make the recycling process easier

My experience from the interviews
I met few friends at their homes not sure what will be the outcome from the interviews concerning my project about the recycle bin and I was amazed by the results and how many issues rose starting with just a litter bin! I also appreciated even more the lessons of the artifacts design class and our wonderful teacher. To be honest I didn’t expect that starting from something with such a narrow area like a recycle bin would have brought so many aspects. I would like to share with you because although we live in different places of this world all of us we live in the planet earth. Through the interviews with my friend I found out that most of them have been positive with the necessity of recycling and even one of my friends who in the beginning exclaimed that our Municipal doesn’t have enough (maybe none) big recycling center, in the end of our conversations admitted that she would have bought a recycling bin for her house if it has been functional and designed tastefully.
So, as a result from the interviews I found out that my friends are willing to do the effort (even to bring the recycling litter to another Municipality) if there have been a solution of a recycling bin that would have helped to keep the litter even for a period at home until they will be transported elsewhere. And in the end already I motivated the participants of the interview to consider recycling more seriously.
Revised User needs as a result of the interviews:
1. The recycling bin is functional
2. Capacity to store different kind of litter
3. To be spacious
4. To be divided wisely
5. To be cleaned easily
6. The recycling bin is aesthetic
7. To make recycling more pleasant and less obligatory
10. To be cheap
11. To be durable but made from recycling materials
12. To be fun(!)

How BinCat Theory was born
Being on holidays during week #5 (In the island of Santorini) I didn't have the chance to publish the result of the survey for grading since I have been away from my computer, but before I leave for the trip I have sent to my email contacts and facebook friends the Recycling bins Customer Survey intend and when I returned I found positive reaction on (d) the fun recycling bin, and so I figured that to make a fun recycling bin could be the WOW factor of my bincat theory he he
